Strong interest in Membership and
berthing facilities at __YC.....over the
Heartlands....
Ed is away in USA but reported on a
proposal...new boat......a Cosmopolitan View!!!
Fishing is good with regular hits on
the targeted and objectives......
It was wet from the rains
and stroms, although morning was heated to even smell
vapours from the overhead covers.
Mir made snapped and came
on board.....
Kim lost and it's
confusion.....
Kim lost and another
confusion.....
Kim lost and a bigger
confusion from cross lines and passing.....
Dan converted for an
Es_Cod....
It stormed but talking to Robert and his
dog, it was impressive.....
We were in shelter....
Loyang was quiet....
Storms and we made it
back on shore quick!!!
Conclusions: Wet......
Junior struck Gold at 7-11 early before the fizz .... Nice 3 Kg Specimen called Kim. He missed another and the informer ...............
Yellow Crane
remained still with no flights....
'The Wreck'
landed a hungry Ed with a Prata but he
wasn't too enthusiastic....lack of spice....another bite
but we had to move................A lost attempt to
recover the Submarine!
Jetties and
rocks... was more of a toss from waves....
But at Broken
Jetty saw an early hit by Daniel but he missed... After
reanchoring, Dan converted his casts to 2 straight Golds.
Nice Kims!!!! Junior casted and hit...the
Gold was seen ..only for sight!!!!
( Hook didn't
quite set!)
Food was
collected at Ubin's Le Chinois... and a
feast was held onboard. Gentle waves assisted digestion
but the taste and hunger led ultimately to heavy stomachs.
A toast of wine from Philip made aboriginal music from
snorts and snors for some.
Jumping
Tails had no performance dance troupe.......
Storm and rain
came ...Yes, it was wet!!!
Back to Yellow
Crane....and Dan shot a nice goal with
MOO! Grunter... it was large and magnificent!!!
Mat casted and
Eric steered up an Es-Cod that finally,
slipped but was far too upstream to return back...It was
struggling on the surface as there was no way for her to
return back to previous life-styles ... MOB Mission was
launched to secure her! Mat's hands made magic and she
finally, laid on the deck exhausted with breathing
difficulties!!!
Abdullah was
in town and Eric was off before its 37!!!
Conclusion:
Dry to Wet, to be soaked and heavy from food!!!
Ed was somewhat withdrawn....
as it is his late dad's birthday!!!
The trip went straight off to
a Pineapple. A boat followed and attempted anchoring.
We went drift fishing for
once..... WHY can't these CREATURES locate their own SPOTS?
The sea is big and accommodating to all who put true
efforts!
As things settled, Daniel
made his debute with an Es_Cod and another to hit the Queen
of Hearts .... used full armour to land. Reel was temporary
in ICU!
During a quiet moment, Ed
made his cast and a Queen made her debute with a jump and
another jump to put the G.Loomis rod to test. Ed asked her
to jumped again but she was uncooperative .. However,
the heat was on...but a relaxed Ed gradually brought her
alongside as he enjoyed her presence.
It was strategies and a decision was made to
head for OBS. Ben made Gold with a nice Kim of 2 approaching
3 Kg . Mat's bear hands grasped the fish and it came
onboard. The anthem should have been played!
The waters bathed Yellow Crane a little dirty
but Ben made his presence from a snapped....followed by 3
hookups by Amir, Daniel and Wlifred. Amir and Daniel landed
2 nice Snaps. Great!!! Willy's remained wild!
Moving to the Crane's high rock, Daniel hit a
nice Kachi..unusual for the area! It was again snap and
snap....but more for Mir to shoot goal between the post for
Milk! Moo!!!! A very nice Grunter!!!
Without Prejudice ..a
Statement from Ed....being somewhat Philosophical Today:
" When dealing with the sea(s),
one respect(s) the sea(s).
When dealing with bites,
one needs to know how to set, reel and land.
When dealing with clubs,
one needs to know whether it is a complete set! "
Conclusion: A respectable
catch....nice food organized by Willy......and an eye-opener
for the Millennium!
Once in '3 mths currents'....not surprised!
Weather map from radar was clear but ST showed signs of
showers. We could have some of tat!
7-11 in the morning was closed.
OBS gave Neo a nice snapper and Ed, an
undersized flattie as well as a juvenile Es_Cod!
At Jumping Tails....Gold came and Gold gone
.....Ben missed a large take that had his drag taken..line
frayed and ...alas! (an
"#+>%^^*&...!!!!"..was somewhat heard!)
Lunch and more baits was to be
organised... Ubin Le Chiniose... and Ah Cheah.....goods in
place and off to lunch and tries.....
First stop.....Water was murky
and the guys weren't there!
Same a Second Stop....Ed landed
an Es_Cod....but juvenile!!!
Back to Jumping Tails...weather
was hot and it was a hot spot as Junior described.
Out of Tails and into the
deeps...James had a take and Snapped it was...! plus...a
while, David 's Es_Cod!!!
Back to Tails...Ben struck and
it was Gold abet 3-4 Kg ......a nice slivery Kim!
Neo's fruit basket of chilled
comestibles of bits and bites was really refreshing! It
pull thro' the heat!
Back at OBS, another bite and
another Es_Cod..... it's like having an agency following us!
Fishing on the rocks....didn't
help to cool the heat!!!!
It's getting late and
dehydrating......a nice cold drink at Deck 5 was a relief!
Conclusion: 1 Gold....and
angler of the day," Ben Chong"...Proposed by Ed and
Seconded by All!
Question of the day: "Why
buy a car when Hertz is next door?"
Ed was out with the family..Chris and Louise.
Chris landed a snapper at OBS. Ed
missed a good take..... that could be the one he was after with
the huge prawn!
Ah Seng was caught at Ah Seng... no signs of the
snapper shoal!
Spot M004 saw another good size snap and snapper
landed. Again by the girls!
Ed had another miss from a powerful take....
decided to call the day!
Conclusion: Good lunch at Tai Kong cafe... Curry,
Omelete and Beans sprouts with lime juice was perfect!
Ahmad's boat landed a 5 odd Kg Fish No. 5 and
also struck Gold around a crab.
Once upon a time and it was today, that Kims
dominate their territory. This is the day.............
Unfortunately, we were not in search of Gold as it
was for Fish Number 5 that could be golden, but yet better!!!
Ahmad opened with an Es_Cod and followed by Ed.
Both were kept alive in our Aquarium ..... reasonable specimens.
No Fish Number 5....so it was time to move on and
perhaps harvest at Golden Pineapple.
Talang was landed by Ben but bloody
from bleeding.....
Ed missed... Ahmad struck, Ed fought, passed onto
Junior and then, onto Ben...before Mat landed with his 'bear'
hands. A 6 Kg Gold was converted.
Bit & Bite and off..............Ed's rod had
something. It jumped and was Gold. Ed rushed from front to back in
time for a smile at a photoshot. Easy and relaxed as he knew what
to do except to loose the tension. Mat hands was wet again!!! A
smiling Ed said, "Let's throw it back!" But was stopped
by an eager but happy Mat or from anglers' stomachs. So
it was a Mr. Kim at 6 odd Kg who has yet had his sex changed.
Shortly later, Ed remarked that it is time to head
back as a possible storm could be brewing. It's wasn't well
received although explanations of Flu and ailments were made from
getting wet.
2 Golds were made... and time for
Snappers by Junior, who wasn't too snapped up and a Huge 3 Kg
Es_Cod for Ben that fought like gold. It was a beauty!!!!!
Junior missed Gold after
reanchoring! Daniel's rod tensed to land an Es_Cod. Decent......
and into the aquarium!
Ben's cast was a javelin and landed
a huge specimen by local standards. Silver was awarded!
Almost a Grand Slam with one
missing specimen!!!! No.5!!!
Weather was fine and
cloudy...perfect for Gold but we were after Fives.
Food was a good mix of Fried Bee
Hoon cooked al dente, and Nasi Lemak with lots of sambal! ...Tom's
at Ponggol Marina!!!
Pics to substantiate awaits
processing!!!!
Conclusion: Kelong Fishing without
poles!!!!
William Lai was on the ball making things happening at the Marina. PS: He wasn't out at sea...poor Bill!!
Ahmad took his pants off ......He had
another on!
Ed went to 179 but it was too homely.
Golf Club Membership on sale and
special offers.
Mat and Map were made but no takes.
Before 11 at 7-11, but conditions weren't good.
Snapped a Snapper there and e-released an Es_Cod!
Crunch...fizz!
A regular feature except to be amplified 3X.
Yellow Crane bath in dirty waters but tried flying
high ...but snapped... a Snapper!
The goal posts remain empty with 0-0. Mooo!
Whooo? Whooo? It's Chia!!!! Dog needs
OCR!!!
Batman visited OBS and a take was
made by a Senior...not Junior! Bat-fish!!!! Or Jeff's Dad_Fish!
Winds were fickle!!!!
Prayers at Temple didn't help.... wrong winds and
currents! Burning of Paper Gold would help?????
A nice eel at WP!!! Possibly
therapeutic...but not that electrifying!!! But still shocking!!!
Spot Satisfaction still satisfies..Dut..Dut...but no
landings and alas, abet tiine ..to head back!
Strip show was reclothed!!! Mat
became Corporate!!!
The Seniors had their show today as they demonstrated
their youth by sitting around! Not that easy..Mate! Superglue????
Eggs and barnacles are an excellent bait...for the
anglers's stomach!!! Chef Liew at Ubin's le Chinos ala le Kelong
Makan was supreb.
Bubbling to rejuvenate ...air gives live and
breathing space......especially for Shrimps! Good buy at Ubin!
William Lai met Ed not long after
landing... "Today is not a good fishing day and you were
out?" Ed said, "I need it...... n....... the fun and
leisure is really here..... at our TOP END!"
Philip is not Philips and none of us is aware of this
branding!!!
Summary: 3 Good Snappers and 2
Released Es_Cods.......+ 10 + 3...and the rest... ( CONFIDENTIAL)
Today's Events....26 Aug 1999
Clouds from Southwesterlies were
threatening from Radar Detection. Regional Weather Map showed low
pressure around Melaka and causes wind direction changes to
Southeasterlies...Saved!
A Malaysian Polis Craft gave a
performance in local S'pore waters at around 0945 hrs and made its
presence felt from handling and wakes to toss local vessels and crafts
with total disregards as to protocols. Our Coast Guards were there
watching....but.........
Both Explorers are were out and headed
in different tracks and opposite directions to finally meet up at one
of the Pineapples or the juice.
Explorer 1 went to BED.
It was restful. Explorer 11 went to see what's in a can of
Pineapples. Rod breaking news .....Daniel broke his rod there. No
juice ..... from now on! Replacement(s) needed! A new rod!
Spoted a local Marlin dancing on its
tail all the way at BED. Apparently, something was after it!
Ben had crab...no need to see the Docs.
Still, it was flowery.
The denizens were fast asleep at BED.
Waterfront was pretty polluted and prawns were killed
in a flash. Salinity??? Sanity???Oil??? No wonder they were
hyperactive in the bait-well and probably saying,"Don't throw me
there as I'm too young to die!" The Blobs were there but simply
ain't biting! Wrong bait???? Too fresh??? Not oily enough???
Gremmies and Es_Cod .....on the rocks......along
Pineapple Juice.
A Barra ....had a prawn pulled out of
its mouth...on the rocks! E chorus though soft was heard!
Poor cooperation again at 179 spot. The shoals were
seen on the sounder and the Blobs were there but they had their own
ideas.
However, there was still a happy man (in spite of no
lunch) as Ed was pleased with his navigation and boat-handling
techniques. 2 perfect alongsides and one quick MOB rescue.
s.t.e.a.MARINERS.
Ed had to leave early and from one of
the alongside.... they slipped out of the and into.......
Coast Guards were alive....Yellows and
tartarzine ...hyperactivity. Better than being lethargic!
2 plus 2 makes a party but it was for prayers....David
had his prayer come true..with a 3 Kg Gold at 'Bang Balls'.
Lines bursts and ...fish....! It part
of being eco.......! Bang Balls real hard for 2 times.....!
Good catch from Pawang Soh....Ah Soh!!!!! des....ka!..
Or des ne!
Coast Guards were fully in patrol.
Their wakes could be more restful. However, gangsters were making an
occassional strike though a bit more timid! Legs gone!
Weather was beautiful though a little
hot but a nice change from the wets of the last few days.
It's STEAMing .."Every .....Has A Special Day"......Quote: Guru Ahmad 21 Aug 1999
Ed said that today's current is once in a year as the
Moon-Age was 9.3. It's true..... as once ..or is it?...tatta Grand
Slam is made!
The Grand Slam was made basically by Daniel and a good
goal from Ben with a ball that Moos at injury time. (Many egos were
injured!!!!!)
Daniel was in TOP form to land first a snapper, followed
by a Deep-sea Kim and then, the GOLD of the trip - a good 3.5 Kg
Kurau. He went on to land 2 more good-sized snappers and 3 groupers.
Adding injury to injured egos, the last Estuary Cod with nice Green Eyes
that weighted over 2 Kg was caught on dead Prawns on TOP of a Pineapple.
( Pics will be made available once developed to testify.)
Junior was ecological by allowing his 2 Snappers to drop
back just before landing.
Ed's concerns for the conservation of Barras was such as
to pull the bait out of its mouth..... on TOP of a Pineapple.
Junior and Ed competed as to who has the best hit rates
in getting Sangkut. Junior won 6-4!
Daniel is more than just a believer of
Ed's Hypothesis of not hitting early...his Big Cod was much alive after
alongside!
Weather was rather fickle with constant changes of wind
directions. Water from the skies made things rather wet.
Fried Kuay Teow from Changi's Tekong stall, Fried Carrot
Cake plus Malay Chicken Wings and Corktail Jelly were the order of the
day.
Haze was bad from more than 3 packs of fags by 3
individuals as only one angler was apparently making way!
Junior discovered that shivels could also
be used as hooks.
Fun having video recording onboard to
record....as well as to listen to the commentaries! ( At that moment of
time.)
Summary: Angler of the day ( 1 in 1 yr) - Daniel...Good
Fun...Lots of Laughter.....New Director of Motion Photography and
Commentary!
Keep a lookout of the exclusive pics once
made available. ASTN!
David opened with almost Gold at 7-11.
Unfortunately, the cash register was closed!
Cash conversions were available at Jumping
Tails and Gold was taken. David broke the currency conversions to increase
the ratings.
A Pasta Lunch from Ubin's Le Choinise was
excellent. Cooked al dente! Le Village!!!!
Strong winds and tidal changes wasn't the
targeted order of the day. It took a lot of heat out and STEAM.
Barat was coming and it wasn't only
off-shore but right into CTE as traffic was bad.....so were tables and
seats amidst Deck 5.
Graf.. rods are as good as clubs on the fairways in
lightning. ENERGIZ...Sirs!!!!
Junior requested for rice-dumplings for Clement! It's ahead
of its times but with the CURRENT order of the day as well as festivities
for 7th month...... onwards....... ( Request to obtain complete
particulars for ADs.)
We were wet and cold BUT wouldn't mind to
be wet and STEAMing. It's one of those days!!!!!!!!
Bottom-line: 1 Kim landed.......
Bill was given a golden welcome - hitting
Kim at BS2. He also landed a nice Mangrove jack at Ed's Bite Shoes.
Strong winds in late morning and early
afternoon.
Waters are relatively murky and fish were not really
biting.
Ed's concept of landing late happened again with a nice 2
odd Kg Mangrove Jack. It was a good take, strong fight and Ben helped to
net it.
Ben followed the concept with a late shot to make goal.
Moo! Another grunter.
Kenny was around as the official photographer as his
fractured thumb was in the way. Get well soon, Ken!
Some irresponsible anglers made Ed STEAMing
mad and they anchored next to our boat without much courtesy. The sea is
so big that it is only fair to look for your own spots.
Conclusion: Nice outing with TOP END's
catches...could have been better with a mattress on BED!
Mat landed a 3 Kg odd Golden Kurau at Spot Cannotsay. Pics taken and will be
released once processed. Mat is relatively youthful!
Junior is in top form with early landing of
Snappers.
Ben and Daniel landed nice groupers that
could be crosses of Estuary Cods and Corals.....Inter-marriages out at sea!
Inter-racial harmony that we could learn a bit more. They refused to
disclose their new techniques in hooking. TOP-END style!
Usual misses as the hooks didn't quite set!
Perhaps better table manners from the marine denizens?
Ed shot a nice goal between the posts and
grunters are back. Mooo!
Once again, the new hypothesis of not landing
early was at work with a last minute hit on a sizable Golden Snapper. Ed
believes in bringing a live fish or at least in its freshest state for his
meal.
Winds are getting stronger and changing with
possibilities of increased cross directional intensities and rain over the
next few weeks.
Tested the new reel or at least for one of
us...Quantum Pro 4.......strong and performing as a baitcaster even in
bottom conditions of 25 metres.
Tekong Fried Kway Teow at Changi is
fantastic....so is the Fried Carrot or Turnip Cakes. Nasi Ayam Goreng is
also good. Ice-jelly is a perfect accompaniment for that complete salty-dog
experience.
Conclusion: Good Fun.... Good Food....Good Fishing!
Junior landed Gold...a good 2 odd Kg Barra off Top End.
Daniel landed a 2 odd Kg what appeared as Gold
only to be a Snapper. Anyway, it's unusual for that size in the vinicity. Nice
job, Danny boy!
Ed's doesn't want to land any fish early in the
day as he believe they won't be fresh in the ice-box. Landed a nice snapper at
Spot Satisfaction just before heading back to Ponggol Marina.
Ed's hypothesis of the day..."It takes
skill to catch a gremlin or to get sangkut. Try it and see how difficult it is
to purposefully achieve one." Eric has talents.
Great food at Ubin at Ah Liew's.....good food,
great prices and full stomachs. Try Tom Yam Crab!
XO is not a cognac........or drink!
No cows are in sight ..... viewing Tee-offs at
the spins......
Malcom caught his his Estuary Cod .... he is abet 3 years old.
Wilfred is a proud dad.
Clement needn't have fears to go to the Multi-Storey car-park.
?????
Maggi isn't just instant noodles.
Satu Tahun yang Lalu or 1 Yr ago....on this exact day 1st Aug
1998...
On a pineapple....Ed landed a 9 Kg odd Barra in the presence
of William Lai plus a warm, cheering audience. The 2 boats were anchored
side by side. Daniel was the deckman to bring the fish onto the boat with
his bear hands. No landing-nets were available as they not around. TOP END
ANGLING.
Quote from Ahmad... "From the other
boat, I thought you would have lost the fish as the was too much
slack."
Earlier in the day, Bill Ng landed a lobster instead of
threads. Nothing but still a lovely tapestry! TOP END ANGLING.
Barra landed at Ketam Channel in fornt of under constructed
chalets....Not big but good eating size.
Goal-posts remains empty no cows at sight.
Gangsters are out in full force not much the Coast Guard could
do!
Winds around 12 to 15 knots making anchoring and positioning
difficult.
Flash....22.7.99
Current ...once in 3 years with Moon-age
9.1....... and no one out fishing! Opps, we were out!
Birds are flying low and targeting their preys....fishy? We saw
them!
Barra fever is happening......with a frenzy chase on bait fish.
Some were almost at surface. We were astonished seeing the Kims. Pity
they were not connected to our rods.
Bait fish have a poor taste.......they rather feed on plastics.
(We got them with the derivatives of paraFins.)
David struck Gold while Ben could have converted that Kim to a
STEAMed 3 Kg odd and delicious meal. All's is happening at Ed's
Bite-Shoes. ( Worn shoes doesn't taste at all nice even with condiments.)
A nice snapper snapped into David's line and
was snapped out of the water.
The STEAMing team sounded and found 6 new hot
spots. ........ not only tightlines but tightlips as well! Clue.......BS2, Big
Mouth, Western Channel, Fairways (BED), Cut Cans and Bunkers. We hope the pics
develop well for a glimpse.
Meimei kept her poise and was relatively....
shut!
Where are the cows as the goal posts are still empty.
No time to go to James Bond Island but in these days, if
weather and conditions permit it should be good! Bang!
Catch of the day.... a large, ....mean,
LARGE...description of a mate called, Ah Seng! The real Ah Seng is great with
his vast fish knowledge. Ben certainly enjoyed his Kopi....Opps,fish!
Giv' yourself a a kickalong an' tat's abet somewhat
North-West of Wagawagabank near Stickasitalong and on Wangawangaprop!
Tee off and hit for the Fairways to reach the
Bunker!"
Angling isn't Golf..... we aim for bunkers and roughs!
Driving means boat handling and club is limited to one
graphite.....
Sounds are not always reproducible and only 'Fish'!" In
different tonalities.......
Looking for the Cows in East Johore Straits as the goal-posts are empty. Grunters have yet to be seen.
Clement couldn't be seen as yet in our newspapers. May place Ads in Lost and Found columns, prior to arrangements for prayers. Be careful of sticking pole from former Kelong near Tajam Beacon splitting in Selat Nenas and Serangoon Harbour. Visible at lows and danger at highs. Good element for testing strength of hull.
Current is slowing so go for deeper spots....
Snappers are in town at the East Johore Straits....not big but around 800 gm.
Eat the Ayam Bakar prepared by Ahmad's wife, Kiang. Make sure you eat all the chicken meat that's on it, and use the bones as berley. Yes, the Kims will come and get your bait ! (Just a testing text, don't take it too seriously or I will have no Kim left to fish.....)
